The Frugal Biddy

My Emergency Fund Glass is Half Full

I have been saving for my emergency fund for what seems like forever.  This Friday, I’ll be at my 50% mark or six months away from having a fully funded emergency fund come November.

My glass is half full. And this hasn’t been easy and won’t be easy.  I purchased a used car for my daughter which means the amount I pay for car insurance has increased.  I’ve had other expenses including all the money I had to dole out to move in another apartment and purchasing brand new mattresses for me and my daughter.

I stay committed to funding her 529 Plan, my emergency fund and contributing extra to my car note while trying to stay out of debt.  This all means that I have less play money. But if I don’t complete this task of the emergency fund, I will feel like a failure.  This is the one thing I MUST do for myself.  It’s something that will be MINE.

I’ve accomplished many things in life but one thing is never having this level of financial security.  I’ve lived a good deal of my life robbing Peter to pay Paul.  THIS was unfair to me.

I’m CELEBRATING this halfway mark. 🎉🎉🎉. I’m celebrating me.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
