MoneyTips: One Stop Shop for Your Financial Needs

MoneyTips Provides Credit and ID Protection for Free

An account representative from MoneyTips contacted me on Linked In a while ago and asked if I could review their product to see what I think about it. I am very leery of suggesting products to anyone unless I actually have used them.

I have been toying around with MoneyTips for about a month. This financial tool includes a credit manager, a retirement planner, a debt optimizer (I REALLY love this), ID Protector,Mortgage Planner, and Rate Compare tool (I’ll talk about this later).

MoneyTips also includes and option for professional advice services about a topic.  They also provide a list of professionals that you can hire to consult with on a variety of matters.

The BEST thing about MoneyTips is that it is ABSOLUTELY FREE website. However, they do plan on including some upgraded services that costs $.4.99 for one service and $19.99 for another service. Those upgraded options are not available at this time.

MoneyTips Credit Manager Program

The Credit Manager Program by MoneyTips includes an interactive free credit report. This service allows for you to dispute, resolve or negotiate errors on your credit report without going through a credit repair company.

Interactive means it actually shows in real time. When I started writing this blog my credit store was 805. That has been my score for about two weeks. When I finished writing the score it had risen to 811. It could be because I am steadily still paying down some debt.

I have been emphasizing credit scores for the month of July. With the Credit Manager, MoneyTips spotlights six keys to your credit score: credit usage, credit age, total accounts, payment history, inquiries and derogatory marks.

Additionally, you have the option to notify Transunion of an error you find on your credit report. It appears that Transunion is the only credit bureau that tracks your MoneyTips credit score.

MoneyTips also has a, “Better Credit” category that provides you with:

  1. Total Accounts for your opened and closed accounts.
  2. Your payment status and on time and late payments.
  3. Your credit card utilization.
  4. Any accounts in collection or public records.
  5. Any and all inquiries on your report.
  6. And the length of your accounts.

MoneyTips Debt Optimizer

Since I am so against debt I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Debt Optimizer section. It outlines all of your current debt (mortgage, credit cards, car loans, and if applicable, student loans.). You are given your borrowing eligibility which includes your credit score (at the writing of this article my credit score is 811 up from 805 on the same day), and your debt to income ratio.

My 805 and 811 Credit Scores

The Debt Optimizer also provides an analysis on your credit card debt and better credit cards at better rates that can lower your monthly payments. If you do decide to do a balance transfer and can get a lower monthly payment I would encourage you to pay as much as you can on the new card to increase the time it takes for you to pay off the card.

MoneyTips Mortgage Planner and Retirement Planner

MoneyTips has a  Mortgage Planner  that I can say is just o.k. There are no bells and whistles and it’s pretty basic. It’s no different really than you would find on a site where you can get an idea of what you can afford.

The website also had incorrect information about my mortgage interest. It shows that my mortgage interest rate is 6.5% versus the 4.125% I have. However, it does accurately show how much my monthly mortgage is.

I really MoneyTips Retirement Planner because I like to play with numbers in terms of how much money I may need or will have for retirement. There is also a tool which you can get a private consultation with a professional regarding your retirement.

I have a financial planner, and she only accepts clients of a certain net worth. It would be GREAT if people knew what income bracket or amount of net worth someone would need in order to be seen by a financial planner. This assessment has nothing to do with MoneyTips. I believe that this is just something that all financial planners do.

MoneyTips Fraud Alert and Identity Protection

MoneyTips will also provide fraud alert for free but they do have an enhanced protection for an upgraded membership fee. The Premium service, which is $4.95 a month, and the Elite service, at $19.95 a month, are not available at the time. The Elite and Premium services offers the bells and whistles and I look forward to signing up for one of those.

Ask a Pro, Find a Pro, and Rate Compare

Lastly, MoneyTips has features called “Ask a Pro”, “Find a Pro”, and “Rate Compare.”

Ask a Pro is awesome. You can ask any questions you want and a pro will provide you their sage advice. Find a Pro is the feature where you find a professional to help you with a specific financial matter for a fee.  And the Rate Compare gives you quotes for credit cards, personal loans and life insurance.

I signed up for MoneyTips a while ago. I really like it. I like being able to primarily track my credit score and also my debt. I currently have a car note which I HATE and I am using the Debt Optimizer to ensure that I stay on track to finish paying off this car in 2019.

When you sign up I would LOVE to hear from you! I’d love to maybe feature some people in a future blog about your own personal experience with MoneyTips!
